We've been here for about 10 years and have encountered numerous javalinas, coyotes, a couple of bears and a couple of mountain lions. They usually just look at us and disappeared in the woods. The last few times when my wife did her usual early morning walks with our two dogs. Something was different, they were "shadowed" by what we original thought was coyotes and at least once, a couple of them shadowed my wife and two dogs all the way to our back gate. After conferring with our neighbors, we suspect these are not coyotes but wolves. We called the appropriate authorities and they send somebody out a couple days ago. After a thorough investigation, looking at tracks, etc, it was confirmed that we do have a number of wolves frequent this area. A couple more people from the "wolf program" will be here tomorrow and camping out not far from our back gate to see what more they can learn. Meanwhile, if you are around the area, BE CAREFUL, as these can be dangerous and and they have already shown that they are not intimidated by people and dogs (one of our dogs is 90lbs).
